Welcome to the North Texas Behavioral Health Authority (NTBHA)

NTBHA is the Local Behavioral Health Authority (LBHA) contracted by Texas Human Services Commission (HHSC) to provide mental health and substance use disorder services to qualified indigent consumers in our six-county region of Dallas, Ellis, Hunt, Kaufman, Navarro and Rockwall Counties.
We were also the LBHA for the NorthSTAR system that ended effective December 31, 2016. For details for how this change may affect you, please click here.

If you were a NorthSTAR consumer with Medicaid, your behavioral health services are now covered by the same Medicaid MCO that covers your physical healthcare. Please click here for a helpful contact list.

Collin County split off of the seven-county NorthSTAR region to form their own behavioral healthcare system. For more information, please contact LifePath Systems at 1-877-422-5939 for screening into services or for crisis assistance in Collin County.

Meanwhile, for our new indigent behavioral health system of care, we have contracted with comprehensive mental health providers who offer a full array of services and with substance use disorder providers in the area. Please refer to our provider directory on the Services tab. These clinics conduct financial assessments to determine eligibility for NTBHA funded services that they provide. Please call us at 214-366-9407 or toll-free at 1-877-653-6363 for questions or assistance with a referral.
