Upcoming Classes From North Texas Behavioral Health Authority (NTBHA)

Please join NTBHA for Mental Health First Aid (MHFA), Youth Mental Health First Aid (YMHFA), Suicide Prevention and Postvention, and other classes.  Most of these classes are online unless clearly marked “IN PERSON” and an address is given for the location of the training.

Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) is an evidence-based, early-intervention course that teaches participants about mental health and substance use challenges.   All MHFA classes are free for Texas residents.   Pre-work is required to be completed to attend the MHFA virtual instructor-led sessions.

Suicide prevention classes are offered in conjunction with the Texas Health and Human Services Commission.

JUNE 2026

  • Wednesday, June 3 – 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Adult Mental Health First Aid Hosted by Parkland, Patrick LeBlanc, Ph.D., and NTBHA. Register
    • Pre-work is required to be completed to attend the MHFA virtual instructor-led sessions.

 

  • Wednesday, June 10 – 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. Most Common Substances and Trends. Presented by Amy Sanders-NTBHA. Register
    • This webinar will focus on the data of what are still the most common substances used by people. We will also discuss the current trends developing across the nation

 

  • Thursday, June 11 – 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Youth Mental Health First Aid. Hosted by Amy Sanders-NTBHA. Register
    • Pre-work is required to be completed to attend the MHFA virtual instructor-led sessions.

 

  • Tuesday, June 16 – 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. Suicide Prevention Basics. Presented by Amy Sanders-NTBHA. Register
    • Learn common signs, symptoms and basic steps to help someone having suicidal thoughts and behaviors.

 

  • Monday, June 29 – 8:30a.m. to 3:00p.m. Adult Mental Health First Aid. Hosted by Parkland, Patrick LeBlanc, Ph.D., and NTBHA. Register

JULY 2026

  • Wednesday, July 1 -12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. Alcohol Use Disorder and Treatment Review. Presented by Amy Sanders-NTBHA. Register
    • Learn what is Alcohol Use Disorder. Also learn about the different common treatments and their effectiveness.

 

  • Friday, July 10 – 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Youth Mental Health First Aid. Hosted by Amy Sanders-NTBHA. Register

    • How does technology affect mental health? Join us as we explore the impact technology has on wellness, relationships, and healthy living.

 

  • Wednesday, August 19 -12:00 to 1:00 p.m. Fentanyl Awareness for Those Working with Youth. Presented by Amy Sanders-NTBHA. Register 
    • Learn about the current Fentanyl trends and its dangers. Also learn what is Naloxone and the common delivery methods to prevent overdose.

 

September 2026

  • Wednesday, September 2 -12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. Getting Candid: Framing A Substance Use Conversation for Youth. Presented by Amy Sanders-NTBHA. Register 
    • Learn basic strategies on how to frame a substance use conversation that is helpful to youth. This workshop gives specific strategies on how to build trust, gain insight, and frame a substance use conversation with youth.

 

  • Wednesday, September 16 – 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. Legal Does Not Mean Safe. Presented by Amy Sanders-NTBHA. Register
    • Join us to learn some of the dangers and risks involved with many of the substances being sold in gas stations, tobacco, CBD, and liquor stores.

Pharmacy Services and Prescriptions

If you qualify for NTBHA mental health or substance use recovery services, NTBHA pays for medications prescribed for you by your physician in the NTBHA network of providers. Over 200 pharmacies in the six-county region of Dallas, Ellis, Hunt, Kaufman, Navarro and Rockwall Counties can fill prescriptions ordered for you by your NTBHA provider.

NTBHA’s Prescription Assistance Program (PAP)
Helps arrange access to medications donated by the pharmaceutical manufacturing companies for individuals who qualify for the PAP program. Both the person and the prescribing physician are notified in writing about the eligibility decisions. Prescribed medications are either sent to the doctor’s office, or the person is sent a pharmacy card for the prescription medication. Please call 469-445-2990 or email pap@ntbha.org.
